About the Winemaker
Paige Vinson, a graduate of FLCC’s first Viticulture and Enology program, approaches winemaking with a minimalist, intentional philosophy. The wines are seen as an artistic reflection of the region, vintage, and varietal, shaped by the careful stewardship of the vineyards. “Each fermentation is like a kid—you give it the best environment for its expression, growth, health, and maturity,” Paige explains. “Sometimes that means intervening with suggestions, but a lot of the time it means stepping back, holding your breath, and seeing what it turns into. In the end, I’m almost always happier with the wine I’ve guided rather than manipulated.”
Heron hill winery
West Side of Keuka Lake. Hammondsport, NY.
Founded in 1977 by John and Josephine Ingle, Heron Hill Winery was built on a simple vision: sustainably farmed vineyards and exceptional wine. Among the early pioneers of the Finger Lakes, the Ingles grew much of their fruit on a home vineyard, crafting wines that helped shape the region’s reputation while prioritizing organic practices and environmental stewardship. That commitment to quality and sustainability continues to guide the winery today.

Designed by New York City architect Charles Warren, an associate of the renowned architect Robert Stern, Heron Hill’s tasting room reflects the Finger Lakes landscape through thoughtful design. A silo-inspired tower, Greek Revival details drawn from historic farms and homes, and stone sourced from the local Hammondsport Quarry create a light, natural setting that has earned international recognition, including being named one of the most spectacular tasting rooms in the world by Travel + Leisure.
With sweeping views of Keuka Lake, Heron Hill offers guests an inviting experience in a relaxed, scenic setting. Visitors can unwind at the tasting bar, take in the lakefront views, and connect with the winemaking team during Keuka Lake Wine Trail events. A newly renovated private tasting room also welcomes small gatherings and group experiences of up to 20 guests.
